Health Advantages of Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a very small tree mostly found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Egypt etc. It is one of the oldest used spices by our forefathers. It is prepared from the tree known as cinnamon. The bark of this tree is dried and then rolled into sticks called as cinnamon sticks.

The flavor of cinnamon is because of compound present in the bark known as cinnamonaldehyde. There are four types of cinnamon but only two are most famous known as Cassia cinnamon and Ceylon cinnamon.

Ceylon cinnamon is very much expensive and most of the people take it as a real cinnamon than other cinnamons. Cinnamon can also be stored in the form of powder. Because of its good quality it’s sweet in taste.

Cinnamon can be used in various foods as a spice. Also it has very much health benefits. The health benefits of cinnamon include diabetes, indigestion, colds and it’s also helpful for the digestion of dairy products and fruits.

Cinnamon is a best home remedy for toothaches. To get relief from tooth pain, mix a spoon of cinnamon with five spoons of honey. Make a paste of these. Apply this mixture daily 2-3 times until you get relief from pain.

Cinnamon is also used as a home remedy for the treatment of common cold and cough. Sore throat can be treated by boiling cinnamon sticks into the water and then using this water for making tea. After taking this tea 2-3 times you will get a relief from sore throat definitely.

There are some side effects of cinnamon too. There is a compound known as coumarin is found in cinnamon which can cause some damage to your liver or kidney. A high quality cinnamon never does this. So try to take cinnamon of better quality.
